ECM Repair & Diagnostics — FAQ

Everything you need to know about ECM repair, DPF cleaning, OBD2 codes, and our pricing in Hyderabad.

ECM (Engine Control Module) repair starts with a full OBD scan to read all stored and active fault codes. Our technicians then verify the faults, test sensors, and attempt software-level repair — reflashing the ECU with updated firmware — before recommending any hardware replacement. Most ECM faults are software faults and are fixed same day.

Always try repair first. ECM repair or reprogramming costs ₹1,999–₹3,999. A new OEM ECM replacement can cost ₹15,000–₹60,000+. At HT ECM Solutions, we exhaust all software repair options before recommending replacement — saving most customers 80–90% on ECM costs.

  • Reflashing / reprogramming: ₹1,999–₹3,999
  • Component-level ECU repair: ₹3,000–₹8,000
  • OEM ECM replacement (last resort): ₹15,000+

A basic OBD scan takes 15–20 minutes. Full ECM programming or reflashing takes 45–90 minutes depending on the vehicle. Most jobs are completed same day. Bring your vehicle in from 9AM–7PM Monday to Saturday for same-day service at our Bachupally centre.

We service all vehicle brands and types — from small hatchbacks to heavy commercial buses. This includes Maruti, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, Tata, Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, Volvo, BharatBenz, Eicher, VW, Skoda, Kia, Renault, Ford, and more.

  • Personal cars & SUVs — all brands
  • Commercial trucks & vans — Tata, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra
  • Buses — private, school, city transport
  • Fleet & AMC contracts — 50+ fleet clients

The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) traps soot from your diesel engine's exhaust. Over time it clogs, causing limp mode, power loss, increased fuel consumption, and a DPF warning light. Cleaning removes the soot and restores full engine performance — at a fraction of replacement cost.

  • DPF warning light on dashboard
  • Significant loss of engine power
  • Forced limp mode (vehicle won't exceed 40–60 km/h)
  • Excessive black smoke from exhaust
  • Failed emission test

DPF cleaning removes soot from the existing filter and costs ₹1,999–₹4,999. DPF replacement means fitting a brand-new filter at ₹25,000–₹80,000 depending on vehicle. We always recommend cleaning first — it restores 90%+ of filter performance and comes with a 30-day warranty.

Forced DPF regeneration (software-driven soot burn) takes 45–60 minutes. Physical DPF deep cleaning (removing and washing the filter) takes 2–3 hours. Both are same-day services at our Bachupally centre. We cover all diesel cars, SUVs, buses, and commercial vehicles.

Yes — all DPF cleaning services at HT ECM Solutions come with a 30-day warranty. If the DPF warning light returns within 30 days of our service due to a fault in our workmanship, we re-diagnose and re-clean at no charge. Post-service care instructions are provided to extend DPF life.

An OBD2 (On-Board Diagnostics) fault code — also called a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) — is a standardised code stored in your vehicle's ECM when a sensor or system detects a problem. Codes start with a letter (P=Powertrain, B=Body, C=Chassis, U=Network) followed by four digits.

  • P0xxx — Powertrain (engine, gearbox)
  • P2xxx — Manufacturer-specific engine faults
  • U0xxx — Network / communication faults
  • B/C codes — Body, ABS, airbag systems

It depends on severity. A solid (steady) check engine light usually means a non-urgent fault — you can drive but should scan it within a day or two. A flashing check engine light means an active misfire that can damage the catalytic converter — stop driving immediately and call us.

  • Solid light — get scanned within 48 hours
  • Flashing light — stop driving, call immediately
  • Light + other symptoms (smoke, power loss) — tow to workshop

Simply clearing a fault code doesn't fix the underlying problem. The ECM will re-detect the same fault and turn the light back on, usually within a few drive cycles. Proper repair means fixing the root cause (faulty sensor, fuel pressure issue, injector fault etc.) — not just clearing the code.

Based on our 5,000+ diagnostic scans in Hyderabad, the most common fault codes we see are P0300 (random misfire), P0087 (fuel pressure low — especially Mahindra), P2002 (DPF efficiency — diesel SUVs), and P0299 (turbo underboost — Mahindra, Tata, Ashok Leyland).

  • P0300 — Misfire (petrol cars, especially older engines)
  • P0087 — Fuel pressure (Mahindra diesel)
  • P2002 — DPF fault (diesel SUVs)
  • P0299 — Turbo underboost (all diesel)

A basic OBD scan at HT ECM Solutions starts at ₹499 and covers engine and major systems. A full 60+ module scan with written diagnostic report costs ₹999–₹1,999. Walk-ins are welcome Monday to Saturday from 9AM–7PM at our Bachupally centre.

  • Basic OBD scan: ₹499–₹799
  • Full system scan + written report: ₹999–₹1,999
  • Bus / heavy vehicle scan: ₹1,999–₹2,999

The diagnostic scanning fee covers the technician's time, equipment, and written report — it applies regardless of whether you proceed with repair. If you do proceed with ECM repair or DPF cleaning at our centre, the diagnostic fee is waived on most services. Ask when booking.
